Addressing Racism

Culturally-Inclusive Prevention Programming

Historically marginalized communities are often targeted at a higher rate for sexual violence. Racism is a contributing factor that upholds power imbalances and white supremacy that allows sexual violence to thrive. All forms of oppression, such as racism, must be addressed to ensure comprehensive prevention programming. Prevention efforts must address three contexts in efforts to create safer spaces for all: individual attitudes and behaviors, relationship and peer dynamics, and community norms. This training explores strategies for strengthening inclusive prevention efforts on the individual-, relationship-, and community-levels and discuss the importance of incorporating anti-racism into our work.
