Serving Incarcerated Survivors

A three-part course

Survivors who are incarcerated can face unique barriers to reporting and seeking support, yet are just as deserving and entitled to advocacy throughout their healing process. With increased focus on the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) and a recognition of incarcerated survivors' unique needs, training advocates on intersections of sexual violence within detention centers will help support advocacy for this population. This series is split up into three sections:

1. Prison rape culture

2. Understanding the role of the advocate

3. Best practices

This course is designed to provide an overview of each topic and prepare advocates for their interactions with detention centers and incarcerated survivors.
